Ka completed a Masters in modern English literature at University College London, focusing on the works of Antonia White and Leonora Carrington (who died at around the same time Ka finished her Carrington dissertation). She joined the Granta and Portobello Books editorial team after working as a cataloguer and researcher in the antiquarian book trade.
